Four finals, a baccalaureate ceremony, graduation, packing and driving home has led me to SUMMER VACATION! Now slow down, it was not my graduation ceremony. I have one more year until that rolls around, but I went to this one both to see what it will be like for me next year and to support all my friends who were graduating. Now I’m back home to rest and recharge before starting my senior year of college….senior year. Huh, it just sounds wrong.
I will be working at the animal hospital again for the summer as a veterinary technician assistant and am waiting to hear back for a potential internship at a magazine. Should be fun and a great learning experience, should I get the job. For now? It’s off to play in the sun and have a nice break from schoolwork. I can’t wait for these next three months!

I’m sorry I’ve not written in so long! I’m home, I’m home for the summer! I’ve been home since May 9th and will be home until the end of August. I’m really glad to be home with my own room, cat, parents, shower, etc. I’ll be working at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital for the whole summer which I am also excited about. It’s a great job to have and I’m lucky to be working there. Currently I’m sitting on the couch watching a movie with my mom while she simultaneously makes dinner. The blog posts will probably be a little less frequent this summer because I’ll be doing so many other things. But I must say, it’s great to be back.
So yesterday I wrote an entire 4-5 page paper that I’m going to turn in Monday and then today I wrote 5 1/2 out of 7 pages of another paper that’s due Wednesday. I’m on a roll! I kind of wish I could keep writing papers for all my finals however I have a Cell Bio test at 8am on Monday so I must study for that tomorrow. Luckily there is no data set involved or else I would be less than thrilled. It’s just a cumulative test based off our notes and a little bit out of the book. If we were to have had a data set, we also would have had to learn extra material about a set of experiments. That would not have been as fun. I’m excited though because that test is the only thing standing in the way of me going home. Then it’s off to my own room, shower, bed, and kitty! YAY! I can’t wait.
Today is Tuesday. Duh. :) I crack myself up sometimes. Being Tuesday it is the day of my final Dorians concert of the semester. Woot woot! I am sad that after today there shall be no more Dorians until the Fall, but at the same time I am excited for the concert. It is at 7:30 pm on campus and my Mom is here to hear it! Whoa, two different spellings and meanings of the same word!!!!!! We are doing a variety of music with a section of our concert featuring music written by female composers. That’s a cool treat because we are an all women choir. Women all over the place! I also am especially intrigued by this concert in particular because I have a solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of one in my college career. So I’m really really excited about that. I must go though, gotta go warm up the golden pipes!
I just want to let everyone know that I am home for the summer! Finals went well, now I’m just waiting on overall grades to be posted. I am no longer a Freshman. Man that feels weird. I am now trying to get an internship or paying position at a vet clinic for the summer to start getting experience hours for when I apply to graduate school. Veterinary schools require a lot of experience before you even start graduate work! That’s the story. I’ll post when I hear from a vet clinic I interviewed at.
Sorry, I wrote this on May 12th and for some reason it didn’t get published! You can read this now and another that I wrote on May 22nd. WordPress I guess is not wanting me to post!
IT’S MY SUMMER VACATION OFFICIALLY! I just finished my last final about 10 minutes ago! My parents will be up here about 11am to start moving things out and then I check out at 12:20pm. I’m so happy. This vacation is much needed. I need time to not be tied down to homework or classes or the pressures of college. I am also ready for my own room, shower, kitty, and time to sing REALLY loud to music on the computer. Next year I will have a larger room…at least I’m pretty sure, that is if we organize it the right way. I have an interview/tour of a Veterinary hospital by my house on Monday which I’m looking forward to. The vet I talked to and contacted my about the summer position sounded really nice on the phone. If/When I get the job, maybe he’ll become a good mentor or just a contact I can go to in the future. Oh my gosh 3 hours till I leave. I have to finish packing!
Well, with classes at least. I still have three finals and a lab report to get through. Two of those finals are on Monday starting at 8am (yipee) and one final on Wednesday also starting at 8am. Good thing I have four days to study! Today I’m moving some of my stuff out with my mom, going to lunch, and then studying. I’m excited now also for reading period because it means I get to sleep! So the countdown to leaving for summer begins. We’re at six days. Six days till home. Six days till my cat. Six days till I’m no longer a Freshman. Scary thought huh?
I am only nine days away from being free and getting to enjoy SUMMER! So ready for it to happen already! I’m going to go swimming at my grandparents house and go on trips with friends and work and do all kinds of things. I’m going to be busy, but it will be on my own terms and that’s just the way I like it. One of the first things I’m going to do is visit a vet hospital that contacted me about a summer job and try to secure it. The next thing will be to go out to lunch with my grandparents to debrief the second half of second semester of my Freshman year. The last thing is to go shopping with my dad. Wow…I have so many things to look forward to.
Ok the post below says it’s from May 2nd, but it is ACTUALLY FROM APRIL 25TH. I wrote it, and then I guess didn’t publish it. So it’s been sitting in the drafts for a really long time. Sorry!
On Friday night I went to see RDG, (remember that’s the reperatory dance group) with my friends Kelley and Andrea and that was really fun. I knew a lot of people in multiple dances which was nice because then I could cheer for them and it made it more personal. It wasn’t as long as I thought it would be so then after RDG Kelley and I went to the honor’s house and did karaoke with other friends. So funny to watch people battle it out singing till one in the morning. Then on Saturday I did Zumba as part of Theta’s philanthrophy event. It was AWESOME. It felt like five minutes and actually it had been forty five minutes. Zumba is a dance workout that is really high energy and you burn 600-900 carlories an hour. Sweet right? Then last night Kelley, Andrea, and I went to see the Senior Theatre Festival Show, Secret in the Wings. That was really good too and it was the first show in that festival where I really knew people in the cast. All the acting was good and it wasn’t such a downer as the first two. Afterwards Kelley and I built a fort in the Seward third floor lounge, ate M&Ms and watched two Disney movies; Aladdin and Princess and the Frog. I love Aladdin and the other movie I hadn’t seen, but it was a good one too. Successful night.
